Rep. Pruitt Challenged by Speedway Neighbor
State Representative Mary Pruitt is being challenged for her house seat by Lisa Leeds. Leeds, who’s running as a Libertarian, says she’s lived by the speedway for 15 years and “knew she was moving next to a race track” when she moved there.
In a press release sent by Leeds, she says “[t]he neighbors of the race track have no standing to tell the racetrack to have the races over by 10 p.m.” She continues: “It was the people’s own responsibility to find out about noise levels in the neighborhood due to the race track before they moved to the area.”
This challenge is especially interesting since Rep. Pruitt is also a member of the Fair Board. Despite that fact, it’s unknown by me how she feels about the speedway issue; I’ve been to all but one Fair Board meeting since January of this year, and have yet to see her in attendance.
Leeds has a web site which you can go to to get more info on her positions on the track and other issues.
