Denson Gets 2009 Speedway Lease

According to the Tennessean, Danny Denson has been awarded the lease for the track running through the end of this year.

Denson is co-owner of Full Throttle Race Parts and was a partner with former leaseholder Dennis Grau. Denson is expected to sign the lease within the next few days.

    I’m optimistic that Denson will do a good job with the Speedway. If nothing else, he should understand the racers and be able to make a better connection with them. The problem is still attendance, and if the Fair Board expects to see 1997ish revenues, the it still could mean bad news. I guess the best way to look at the whole situation is that the track was supposed to be gone after the 2000 season, so if nothing else, we got another 8 years. I hope that’s not the way it goes down, and I salute Glen and Donnie for being the leaders in fighting this hard battle. There’s still a chance that it will all work out for the best.
