About Save Nashville Speedway.com

SaveNashvilleSpeedway.comMy name is Glen Harness. This web site is currently a one-person operation. We’re not a “non-profit” group trying to raise money for yard signs or other purposes. I’m simply a taxpaying citizen of Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville Speedway USA logoIn 1996, I started the original web site for Nashville Speedway USA, and continued to operate the site through the several changes in ownership until the end of 2003, when I gave up running the site for personal reasons.

This purpose of this site is two fold. First and foremost, I want to get the word out to the Nashville community that they still have a say in what happens in Nashville regarding the Tennessee State Fairgrounds and Nashville Speedway. We shouldn’t let one small group talk the Fair Board into the absurd idea of “moving” the Tennessee State Fairgrounds and the Nashville Speedway.

Secondly, this site will serve as a repository of some of the history of Nashville Speedway, in all of its incarnations. The track has been called various names over the years, but no matter what it was called or who owned the lease, some of the best racing in America could be and can still be found at the racetrack (now called Music City Motorplex). If you have records, pictures, or other items of historical value related to the Nashville Speedway, please feel free to contact me. From my days as webmaster for the original site, I still have quite a few items of interest, and over the next few weeks I’ll be adding those to the site.

Please note that I am not officially affiliated with the current management of Music City Motorplex, Nashville Superspeedway, or the Tennessee State Fair Board. I’m just a race fan who thinks it would be a tragedy to lose this historic site.
